Rocca 1794: places for a passion

224 years, all carried lightly. Yet if Rocca jewellery stores are still a reference point in Italian watchmaking two centuries later, it is down to the interwoven golden rules on which the company’s reputation has always been based: the care it dedicates to choosing the partner brands it works with on a long-term-only basis; the attention it lavishes on selecting the ranges it offers, and its aftersales service. The pivotal nature of the client has always been the bedrock of Rocca’s strategy. Proof of this lies in the fact that it is still possible to try watches on one’s wrist in the group’s boutiques, an option which can no longer be taken for granted.

The profound renovation work on its stores is all part of the process it has embarked upon to bring its relations with clients up-to-date. Those entering a Rocca boutique enjoy the buying experience in an environment which resembles a lounge more than a shop. This is the end goal of the major investments Rocca is making to refurbish its jewellery stores step by step and give them a contemporary design. Some have seen the addition of an open laboratory and a bar area for taking a break from hectic city life. Rocca also offers the unique option of taking out an insurance policy at the time of purchase to cover robbery and mugging risks. Because the Rocca philosophy is that the purchase is not the end but, on the contrary, the start of an experience in which the customer is the protagonist.

Calderoni: brilliant vocation

A long-standing presence in Milan’s historic city centre and purveyor to Italian royalty and aristocracies all over Europe, Calderoni (and the Damiani group of which it is a part) is the perfect go-between for bringing this fragment of eternity into the lives of the public. Benefitting from almost two centuries of experience, today Calderoni’s authoritative status enables it to offer a range of bespoke services to those wishing to make an investment that is instead likely to become even more valuable as mines dwindle. Calderoni hand-picks all its diamonds using the rule of the Four C’s, the parameters deemed crucial for valuing them: Carat (weight), Clarity (purity), Colour and Cut. Calderoni diamonds are accompanied by descriptions and authenticity guarantees issued by the most reliable gem labs of international standing. These include the highly respected Gia, the Gemological Institute of America.

Calderoni provides the CertiCard – as the blister is called – shows if the cover has been tampered with. The films surrounding the gemstone are in fact filled with inks that invalidate the seal at the slightest attempt to force them. The special CertiEye optical seal allows packaging authenticity to be determined using a smartphone and an app. Those associating a diamond with a turning-point in their lives, or as a symbol of love, will be eligible for Calderoni’s ring setting service free of charge when purchasing a diamond of 0.30 carats or more from Rocca.

Venini: history, excellence, passion

Venini: history, excellence, passion

It was back in 1921 when Paolo Venini, a lawyer from Milan, and a Venetian antique dealer named Giacomo Cappellin decided to set up Cappellin, Venini & Co. (the future Venini SpA). Over the course of its almost one hundred years of existence, the glassworks has engaged in momentous collaborations with artists, designers and contemporary architects, constantly renewing itself in its shapes and language. Venini glass is sold at high-profile auctions and fetches record-breaking prices.

Since 2016 the company has been controlled by the Damiani family, who formerly ran the international high-end jewellery brand of the same name, and their goal is to give a boost to one of the most authentic examples of excellent products that are made in Italy. “Venini has an extraordinary story,” says Giorgio Damiani, Ceo of Rocca 1794. “We are united by a vision oriented towards the sense of beauty, through which we enhance the artistic qualities and advance the principles that have allowed stories with such a wonderful legacy to be related and to be established as one of the finest expressions of Italian excellence”
